“HU Azores & SPA” is the name of the tourist development designed for the former Tambores Hydroelectric Power Plant, in the parish of Furnas, Povoação. North American businessmen Joseph Peter Barsuglia and Patricia AnnEastman are responsible for the project, which aims to take advantage of the existing spas in the area and create a “Retreat Center”.
